The Final Cut Pro Encoder creates QuickTime .MOV files for use in Apple's Final Cut Pro. This file format wraps and interleaves video, audio, and certain types of metadata streams. Supported video formats include MPEG2 in both Standard Definition and High Definition resolutions, plus DV, DV50, DV100, and DNxHD.
The DnxHD Direct Convert Codec for the Final Cut Pro Encoder permits configuration of metadata that is created during the transcoding process. The DnxHD Direct Convert codec, performs a direct-convert to re-wrap the incoming DnxHD video essence into the output QuickTime file.
