Activations

An activation is the term used to describe the process of validating that an unused seat is available for a given license, granting the right to utilize the seat on a given Mac, and decrementing the number of remaining seats available for the license.

For example, when you activate a single-seat license, no more seats are available. If you activate a seat in a multi-seat license that currently has been activated on 2 other Macs (with 3 available seats remaining), only 2 seats now are available.

Drive-in License.

A combination of a serial number and DVD password, both provided for you when you purchase the license. You can have up to three licenses per copy of Drive-in. You can not select or change the serial number or the DVD password. Both work together to enable you to create DVD images and play them in any copy of Drive-in with the same license.

DVD Image.

An exact replica of a DVD that you have created on your Mac. A DVD image contains the movie, plus navigation and extras if they were on the DVD. DVD images are stored inside a DVD case.

DVD Case.

A package on your Mac that contains optional movie info, and usually, one DVD image of the movie, including navigation, and extras, if any. Sometimes, a case contains no DVD image, and sometimes it contains two or more DVD images.

DVD Password.

A text phrase provided by the Drive-in Web store when you purchased Drive-in and purchased a license. This password is required along with the serial number to validate the license. DVD passwords consist of 10 punctuation marks, numbers, and upper- and lower-case letters. The password is printed on your invoice and purchase confirmation email.

DVD Region Code.

The commercial DVD player specification requires that a DVD player to be sold in a given geographic region may not play discs encoded for a different region. The purpose of this is to allow motion picture studios to control aspects of a release, including content, release date, and, especially, price, according to the region. Many DVD players are or can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs.

DVD video discs may also be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played. DVD players and discs without region coding are referred to as region free or region 0.

EAN Code.

The European Article Number is a bar code representation, composed of either 13 or 14 numbers to uniquely identify a product, such as a DVD. The EAN is only numerals, with no letters or other characters.

Multi-seat License.

A license which enables you (and others) to use Drive-in on up to 5 different computers. With a multi-seat license, you can create DVD images, then play them or them among the five licensed computers.

Serial Number.

An automatically-generated number that, when combined with the DVD password issued simultaneously, activates Drive-in. Serial numbers contain numbers and upper-case letters only. There are no upper-case Os - only numeric zeroes.

Single-seat License.

A license which enables you to use Drive-in on a single computer. With a single seat license, you can’t play DVD images on other computers, or share your DVD images with others.

UPC.

The Universal Product Code is a bar code representation, composed of 12 numbers to uniquely identify a product, such as a DVD. The UPC is only numerals, with no letters or other characters. The UPC is usually printed on the back of a DVD case.
