Telestream
Announces Expansion to MAP
Media Access Line
MAP
platform establishes new class
of solutions for accessing
and organizing media; ABC
station group adopts new Enterprise
Edition to access content
aired at any station
Las Vegas (National Association
of Broadcasters Convention),
April 19, 2004
–Telestream, the recognized
leader in automated media
encoding and delivery products,
today announced a new class
of solutions aimed at dramatically
simplifying the way content
owners and creators access,
organize and share digital
media. Introduced as a concept
product just one year ago,
Telestream’s next
generation Media Application
Platform (MAP) has evolved
into a full suite of MAP
products.
Responding to customer requests
for a simple, yet powerful
media-sensitive file system,
Telestream MAP™ media
access solutions offer simpler,
more affordable alternatives
to larger, more complex
media asset management solutions.
These multi-function tools
simplify indexing, searching,
organizing, repurposing,
retrieving and sharing media
across IP data networks.
“We
see a significant opportunity
in the marketplace to create
a new class of solutions
for customers who don’t
have the need or the budget
for a high-priced asset
management solution,”
said Dan Castles, President
and CEO of Telestream. “These
users need to organize their
media, making it easily
accessible and searchable.
They want to automatically
archive it while keeping
metadata on-line for searching.
We're excited to leverage
our existing customer base
while expanding into new
markets with an affordable
solution that is easy to
implement.”
New Telestream MAP™
products include:
- MAPreview
– a multi-channel
media capture product
that began shipping
at the end of 2003
-
MAPx – a new workgroup
media organizer for
a broad range of media
professionals
-
MAP Enterprise Edition
– aggregates content
from any of the individual
MAP workgroup solutions,
providing visibility
and access to media
over wide area networks
-
MAPreview sc –
a single-channel bundled
solution for compliance
recording applications
MAPx™
is a cost-effective distributed
media access solution
that targets a broad base
of users, such as corporate
media and training departments,
production companies, and
other content creators and
distributors who want to
simplify the tasks of organizing
and sharing video and audio
files with colleagues. This
solution allows groups of
users to store media files
anywhere on the
network, making them easily
accessible by anyone
connected to the network.
MAPx creates a virtual directory
on the network that enables
users to acquire media from
multiple sources, extract
and import metadata for
indexing, and then search,
view and share media across
the network.
The
new MAP Enterprise Edition
provides distributed media
access for corporate or
station-group executives
who want visibility and
access to simultaneously
search and view media stored
on any of the independent
MAP workgroup servers. An
example is the ABC Television
station group, which purchased
ten bundled MAPreview™
systems for multi-channel
live capture and recording
by each of its owned-and-operated
stations. ABC purchased
the Enterprise Edition to
provide station executives
with the ability to easily
search and review aired
content from any of the
stations.
Telestream’s
new MAPreview sc streamlines
single-channel live media
capture, access, and organization.
It provides a cost-effective
solution for users who do
not require the capture
of four video feeds included
in MAPreview –
making it ideal for broadcast
compliance logging. The
MAPreview sc software
comes bundled on a single
CPU server, which is easily
upgradeable to dual CPUs
and the multi-feed MAPreview
by simply adding cards
and servers.
MAP
products are built on Telestream’s
next generation Media Application
Platform (MAP), which enables
users to automatically execute
tasks such as indexing,
transcoding and delivery
– with drag-and-drop
or save-file simplicity.
Users can index content
on custom labels, keyframes,
closed captions and more.
Rich metadata can be previewed
via the Import window from
any Windows-based media
application, enabling faster,
more accurate imports. Folder
tasks can include automatic
transcoding to different
formats and bit rates, delivery
to other systems or network
folders, and archiving to
DVD or CD based on expiration
rules. Media search and
review are further enhanced
with the Telestream MAP
Player, which facilitates
functions such as trimming
and the ability to jump
directly to the next video
frame matching search criteria.
MAP utilizes extensions
to the familiar Windows
Explorer environment, making
it easy to implement and
use.
The
entire suite of Telestream
MAP products, including
MAPone™, the
personal media delivery
application introduced earlier
this year, are featured
in Telestream’s booth
SU7183 at this week’s
National Association of
Broadcasters (NAB) convention
in Las Vegas.
