Nevada
City , Calif. , 1 July 2004
- Telestream, the leading
provider of digital workflow
automation solutions for
the broadcast and entertainment
industry, aims to save time
and money for European broadcasters
with two innovative news
workflow products. Telestream's
new MAPoneT enables
journalists to transmit
breaking news stories directly
from field laptops to the
broadcast facility. Enhancements
to Telestream's industry-leading
FlipFactory® file transfer
application now automate
media ingest into the broadcast
center from European-based
news delivery services to
destination devices such
as on-air servers and newsroom
editing systems. These new
products will be demonstrated
for European broadcasters
for the first time at the
IBC conference in Amsterdam
this September.
"Smaller,
faster, and wireless are
the current trends in electronic
newsgathering," observed
Dan Castles, President and
CEO of Telestream. "MAPone
capitalizes on our automated
transcoding and IP transmission
expertise to meet these
needs with a fast, affordable
means for journalists to
transmit news clips as soon
as they've created them.
When combined with FlipFactory
at the station, Telestream
offers news teams a single-step
transfer process from the
field directly to their
newsroom systems."
MAPone
is a personal newsgathering
application that provides
transmission of broadcast-quality
media from news laptop systems
via any standard or wireless
IP network, including connections
commonly found at hotels,
sports venues, and Internet
cafes. It works seamlessly
with leading laptop news
editing applications such
as Grass ValleyT NewsEditT
LT and Avid® NewsCutter®
XP. Exclusive Telestream
HyperMAPT acceleration optimizes
delivery of digital media
files via the Internet by
removing transmission bottlenecks
and automatically resuming
transfers caused by network
interrupts and failures,
or the sender's desire to
change transmission locations.
When used with FlipFactory
at the station, media files
are automatically transferred
to any newsroom server or
editing system.
Enhancements
to Telestream's FlipFactory
News workflow applications
now automate the process
of receiving news content
from a number of emerging
European digital news delivery
services. Two FlipFactory
News models provide single-step,
all-digital file transfer
from receive servers to
destination systems located
within the broadcast center.
Based on user-defined workflow
parameters, FlipFactory
monitors one or more receive
servers for the arrival
of new content. Then, it
automatically flips the
news content directly onto
leading broadcast servers,
stand-alone edit systems
and larger networked newsroom
systems, in the formats
required by each.
One
of the models adds the ability
to automatically create
low-resolution proxies in
the exact format required
by the particular proxy
editing system, including
Avid® Media BrowseT
and Grass ValleyT NewsBrowseT.
Since it is file-based,
FlipFactory also delivers
important metadata to the
proxy edit system, and it
tells the proxy edit system
where the high-resolution
version of the media is
located. Additionally, this
model includes media reformatting
to popular streaming formats
and automatic delivery to
the broadcaster's Web servers.
Telestream's
new digital news products,
as well as its full line
of industry-leading digital
media access, encoding and
exchange solutions, will
be demonstrated in Telestream
stand 9.220 at IBC2004.
