Telestream Expands Universal Media Access at IBC2004
Major new products and partner solutions enable faster,
easier, more efficient access to digital media
Amsterdam, Netherlands - IBC Show - September 10, 2004 - Telestream, the world's leading provider of IP-based digital media encoding and delivery solutions for the broadcast and entertainment industry, arrives at this week's International Broadcasters Convention (IBC) with its strongest presence ever. Telestream today announced three major new products and partnership solutions that strengthen the company's leadership position and firmly establish its course of enabling universal media access for more users across more platforms. Telestream solutions are being demonstrated at IBC in Hall 9, stand 220.
Telestream announced a new media collaboration solution that enables fast, efficient access to digital media via Telestream MAP integration with Microsoft SharePoint and Windows XP Media Center products. The solution enables content owners and creators to easily access, reformat, trim, and annotate digital media files for sharing with colleagues and clients across local and wide area networks. The media collaboration solution leverages the proven workgroup tools in SharePoint to provide a completely new level of performance at a breakthrough price point. MAP integration with the Windows XP Media Center interface enables simple remote control access to media libraries and viewing via computer screens or TV monitors for executive review-and-approvals, corporate remote training and retail kiosks.
Telestream also announced its first product offerings for the vast universe of Apple Macintosh users, including the industry's first Windows Media 9 Series encoding support for Mac OS X platforms. Telestream's new support capabilities for Windows Media on the Mac enable users to create files in standard and high definition Windows Media directly on their Macs - eliminating the hassle of working with multiple systems and software packages.
Telestream's popular new MAPone personal IP media delivery application now expands to provide support for Mac platforms, in addition to the initial PC offering. MAPone for Mac flips and delivers broadcast-quality media files directly from Apple PowerBook laptops or G4/G5 computers via standard or wireless IP networks. Exclusive Telestream HyperMAPT accelerates transmission over lossy, wireless wide area networks, resumes interrupted transfers, adds encryption for security, and provides incoming file transfer management. Telestream announced pricing under US$1,000 for both the Mac and PC transmit models, including HyperMAP, making it a very affordable solution for news contribution or transmission of any edited material.
With a solid cost-efficient broadband IP network infrastructure now in place across Europe, Telestream announced a surge in requests for its industry-leading ClipMail and FlipFactory products to provide automated end-to-end all-digital workflows for the growing number of European-based digital delivery services. These include Reuters' new WNE Service for delivery of news, IMD's new digital video service for delivery of music videos and TV commercials to broadcasters, and SmartJog's new worldwide distribution of screening, broadcast and post production material. Importantly, Telestream products provide all-digital ingest at the receiving facility to destination systems such as newsroom and edit systems, in the formats required by each.
Partners demonstrating digital workflow integration with Telestream products at IBC include Thomson, HP and Harris. Thomson is featuring MAPone and FlipFactory integration with its laptop news editing solution in Hall 11, stand 551/561. The digital news workflow includes Grass Valley NewsEdit running on a laptop for video editing, saving to MAPone on the same laptop for file-based IP delivery to the broadcast station, and automated, digital ingest to Grass Valley newsroom systems via Teletream's FlipFactory universal file transfer application.
Additional digital workflow solutions integrating Telestream's FlipFactory universal translator are being demonstrated by HP in stand 3.320 and Harris in stand 8.291. Logicalway of Spain, another Telestream partner providing digital media management solutions for the advertising and production communities, is demonstrating its integration with Telestream workflow automation products at Telestream stand 9.220.
Telestream demonstrations include the new media collaboration and Windows Media for Mac solutions, automated digital delivery and ingest, and new features for existing ClipMail, FlipFactory and MAP products. New features for FlipFactory include encoding support for Quantel Q servers, expanded HD and MXF format support, and support for AAC audio and 3GPP formats. Important new features for Telestream's MAPreview multi-channel live capture solution are also being demonstrated. The MAP Quick Review client application dramatically simplifies media access, search and review functions. Support for Harris automation as-run logs, richer metadata capture, and support for IPV MPEG-2 encoding add significant value for MAPreview compliance recording applications. Lastly, new enhanced playback control and VTR slave mode features for ClipMail are being demonstrated at the Telestream stand.
