Telestream Announces First Offerings for Mac
Introduces MAPone for Mac; FlipFactory support for Xsan;
native IMX ingest component for Final Cut Pro coming soon
Amsterdam, Netherlands - IBC Show - September 10, 2004 - Telestream®, the world's leading provider of universal media access solutions for the media and entertainment industry, today announced its first line of products for the Mac platform. A Mac version of Telestream's MAPone T, a personal IP delivery application that transcodes and delivers broadcast-quality media files directly from Apple's Power Mac G5 systems or PowerBook notebook computers running Final Cut Pro HD or other QuickTime-based software, will ship Q4-2004. Telestream's FlipFactory workflow automation application will support Apple's high-performance Xsan storage area network file system when Xsan ships this fall. Additionally, Telestream will provide an IMX ingest component for a future version of Apple's Emmy award-winning Final Cut Pro software that will support native IMX editing.
"We are thrilled to offer our technology to the extensive base of Apple customers, as these users represent a significant share of the content creation marketplace," said Dan Castles, President and CEO of Telestream. "This important step broadens our support for more platforms and users, substantiating our IBC theme of enabling universal media access."
"We're excited that Telestream is bringing its robust media delivery applications to the Mac," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "With powerful solutions such as MAPone , our customers will be able to deliver broadcast quality news cuts and dailies over any standard IP network from almost anywhere in the world from a PowerBook."
Mr. Menno Helmus, Executive Producer, Evangelische Omreop (EO), a leading Dutch Broadcaster said, "We're thrilled to learn that Telestream is bringing its powerful media access products to Mac. We're particularly looking forward to the IMX ingest solution that will enable us to edit content from a Sony eVTR and XDCAM natively with a future version of Final Cut Pro and export IMX back into our broadcast environment."
MAPone for the Mac provides Mac-based videographers and journalists with a flexible, affordable solution for transmitting review-and-approvals, digital dailies, news cuts or other edited material, as soon as they've created them, over any standard or wireless IP network. First introduced in March 2004 for the PC, Telestream's MAPone provides a superb solution for quickly transmitting high-quality media from laptop video editing systems via high-speed Wi-Fi or any broadband IP connection, including those commonly found at Internet cafes, hotels, event sites and home studios. Exclusive Telestream HyperMAPT media delivery protocol, included in MAPone, enhances throughput over lossy/wireless WANs providing better utilization of a variety of network connections. HyperMAP also facilitates encryption for security, and provides incoming file transfer management. MAPone transcodes QuickTime files into standard formats that can be exported by QuickTime, including Windows Media for bit-rate efficient transport, DV, 3GPP, and MPEG-4.
Dubbed the universal format translator , FlipFactory will provide Final Cut Pro workgroups connected to an Xsan network with ADIC's StorNext file system, seamless media and metadata exchange between a wide range of professional video devices, including all the leading media servers, NLEs, MAMs, streaming servers, as well as communication with automation systems. FlipFactory will continue to run on a Windows platform that now includes a Mac Java client.
Telestream will also deliver MXF format support to Final Cut Pro users enabling Mac users to edit IMX content from devices like Sony eVTR and XDCAM on future versions of Final Cut Pro that support IMX editing natively. The Telestream solution provides faster, more efficient direct, digital ingest, eliminating the need for baseband video conversions.
Telestream solutions are being demonstrated in Telestream stand 9.220 at this week's International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. MAPone for the Mac OS X will be available in Q4-2004. MAPone for the Mac will list at under US$1,000.
