MAP v1.2 Software Release Announced by Telestream
Faster, easier media recall, enhanced data capture for compliance recording, and availability of HyperMAP media delivery protocol top list of product enhancements

Amsterdam, Netherlands - IBC Show - September 10, 2004 - Telestream, the leading provider of digital media access solutions for the media and entertainment industry , today announced availability of the MAP version 1.2 software release. This release adds important functionality for all Telestream MAPT media access and organization products. The Quick Review client application, support for Harris automation run logs, and additional metadata capture add significant value for MAPreview compliance recording and other broadcast applications Availability of Telestream's exclusive HyperMAPT enhanced media delivery protocol adds tremendous value for MAPone media delivery applications.

The MAP Quick Review client application provides a faster, easier means for users to search and access MAP media files. Using MAP Quick Review, users can create and save common search profiles, such as yesterday's 6:00 news, and then quickly recall those results by clicking the Quick Review desktop icon. In response to customer requests, MAP now supports Harris automation as-run log ingest. The addition of frame-accurate timecode and date burn-in to MAP media files is another new feature which permanently attaches this important information to the media files. Also available in MAP v1.2 is Electronic Program Guide data and closed caption data extraction, enabling more accurate search. All of these features are particularly useful for live media capture applications.

Availability of HyperMAPT is a key step in completing the development of Telestream's MAPone media delivery application. This Telestream-exclusive media delivery protocol provides important features for improving and accelerating media transmission. HyperMAP enhances throughput over wireless WAN connections. It resumes interrupted transfers, including from different transmission locations. It provides encryption for security. Plus, it includes incoming file transfer management, which allows users to assign delivery priority for one incoming media parcel over another.

Another MAP v1.2 feature is the ability to export MAP binder contents, including media, metadata, and documents, to other MAP systems or networked folders. This feature is ideal for remote laptop users, such as news journalists, as it allows them to offload all files associated with a news assignment to a central MAP Content database, freeing up their laptops for the next assignment. It is also useful for organizations wishing to share MAP media content between remote MAP systems.

Version 1.2 also enables Telestream ClipMail users to send media files directly from a Telestream ClipMail appliance to the MAP Content database. Lastly, MAP v1.2 includes transcoding to MPEG-2 4:2:0 program streams and MPEG-1 system streams.

Effective September 13, MAP version 1.2 software is available free of charge for upgrade by existing MAP customers and will be included with all new MAP product shipments.
