Pathfire
Licenses Digital Content
Delivery Technology to Telestream
Integrated
solution brings unprecedented
workflow
automation to TV stations
ATLANTA
, GA and NEVADA CITY , CA
, December 13, 2004
- Pathfire, Inc., the leading
provider of digital content
distribution and management
solutions for the broadcast
industry, and Telestream,
the leading provider of
broadcast encoding and automation
solutions, announced today
that Pathfire has signed
a license agreement with
Telestream. The Pathfire-Telestream
agreement comes in the wake
of Pathfire's recent partnership
with Media DVX, which created
the industry's largest electronic
ad delivery network. Through
this agreement, Telestream
will begin to integrate
Pathfire-delivered advertising
content into Telestream
FlipFactory TrafficManager
automation applications.
The
integrated solution streamlines
broadcast workflows by automating
ingest and retaining advertising
content in digital format
from delivery to air. "Our
agreement with Telestream
enables the seamless movement
of Pathfire-delivered advertising
content and metadata throughout
broadcast facilities, eliminating
the time-consuming manual
processes of retrieving,
reviewing and processing
ad content for play to air,"
said Ryad Kahale, Pathfire's
Director of Sales, Broadcast
Groups and Stations.
Pathfire's
Digital Media GatewayT (DMG),
is an IP multicast distribution
platform, which distributes
and manages content and
metadata to over 1200 broadcast
facilities in the US and
Canada . Customers such
as ABC NewsOne, CNN Newsource,
Warner Brothers Domestic
Television Distribution,
Paramount , King World and
Sony Television Pictures
utilize Pathfire's DMG platform
for delivering their news
stories and syndicated shows
to broadcast stations. Telestream
FlipFactory® TrafficManager
transcodes digital content
and transfers it directly
to desired destination devices
in required formats. FlipFactory
TrafficManager notifies
station operators as soon
as advertising content arrives
on their Pathfire server.
Incoming content is localized
and transcoded into a low-resolution
proxy format for viewing
and consolidating into a
single traffic monitoring
application. In addition,
FlipFactory TrafficManager
communicates with leading
station automation systems,
automatically sending metadata
and notification that new
content is available for
playout.
"This
agreement with Pathfire
is an extension of our existing
relationship, which enables
cross-technology integration
and provides unprecedented
improvements in the processing
of content management,"
said David Heppe Telestream's
VP of Marketing and Business
Development. "FlipFactory
TrafficManager helps to
streamline station workflows,
and now enables Pathfire-delivered
advertising content to move
automatically throughout
broadcast facilities," said
Heppe.
