Telestream Streamlines News Workflows

LaunchT media delivery application for Mac and PC tops list of new Telestream products and partnerships which play key roles in end-to-end delivery of news production workflows

Las Vegas, Nevada (NAB Show), April 18, 2005 - Telestream, a company that has built a stellar reputation with the world's leading broadcast and cable companies for products that encode and move media across IP networks, today announced multiple new product offerings and enhancements that further extend the ease of digital news submission, automated station ingest and digital newscast review. Telestream's workflow automation solutions play a key role in replacing manual tape-based processes with faster, more efficient, digital delivery and reliable network access to media.

LaunchT is Telestream's newest software-based digital news gathering solution for Windows PC and now Macintosh OS X users. Residing on a laptop or desktop video editing system, Launch is extremely easy for anyone to use. Once news stories are completed, journalists simply drag and drop media files to a desktop icon for flipping and sending in broadcast-quality from field locations to the broadcast station in minutes over any Internet connection, including wireless. Telestream's exclusive HyperLaunchT media delivery protocol enhances throughput by providing better utilization of a variety of network connections. New pricing of less than US$500 brings the product within reach of smaller station budgets.

NAB also marks the first showing of Telestream's Flip4Mac MXF import solution for Macintosh users. The new MXF Import Component provides the only means to ingest MXF files from remote devices such as Sony XDCAM and eVTR for direct ingest into the next release of Apple's Final Cut Pro HD editing application.

Two new digital news delivery services have chosen Telestream FlipFactory as their recommended solution for ingesting their files into the station newsroom. Reuters new World News Express (WNE) file-based delivery system integrates with F lipFactory to automate ingest to news production and broadcast servers. Generation Technologies , the new provider of file-based news delivery services to broadcasters in the US, combines with FlipFactory to provide a fully automated all-digital workflow to newsroom systems.

"We are very pleased to add these important new partners in the news workflow area," said David Heppe, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Telestream. "FlipFactory is the only product on the market that is able to ingest files from all the news delivery services into newsroom systems. Add to that the ability to automatically receive files from remote delivery products like Launch and ClipMail, and you have a very powerful universal news ingest solution."

These additions make us the only company in the industry to be working with every news delivery service to provide a complete solution for automatically ingesting all the file-based news content coming into the station - from remote journalists to every digital news delivery service."

Once the newscast has aired, Telestream's MAPreviewT provides an innovative digital solution for desktop review by executives, legal departments and news directors. The unique MAP Player enables simultaneous viewing of the station's own newscast alongside the competition's - all in the same player. Important enhancements to the MAP Player enable selectable display of captions and single-click control for media searching and trimming in order to more easily find and share appropriate segments with colleagues and clients. New integration with Microsoft SharePoint enables easy-to-use portals for analyzing broadcasts along with other station information.

The seamless integration of these products with a number of news partner solutions are featured in a special News Workflows demonstration in Telestream Booth SU11404 at this week's National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
