Telestream Enables Automated
File-based Ingest of
Pathfire-delivered Ad Content for Broadcasters
Advertising content follows companies' successes in providing all-digital transfer of news and syndicated content to stations' production and on-air systems
ATLANTA, GA and NEVADA CITY, CA, April 15, 2005 - Pathfire, Inc., the leading provider of digital content distribution and management solutions for the broadcast industry, and Telestream, the leading provider of broadcast workflow automation solutions, today announced technology integration to enable all-digital file transfer of Pathfire-delivered advertising content to broadcasters' on-air servers. The announcement follows Pathfire's recent partnership with Media DVX, which created the industry's largest electronic ad delivery network. Today's announcement takes that capability to the next level, by retaining advertising content in digital format and automating ingest from delivery to air. The integrated solution transfers commercials from the Pathfire Digital Media GatewayT to the station's commercial play-to-air server via Telestream's FlipFactory® TrafficManager automation application. The result is a more efficient, streamlined workflow for broadcasters.
"Our integration with Telestream enables the seamless movement of Pathfire-delivered advertising content and metadata throughout broadcast facilities, eliminating the time-consuming manual processes of retrieving, reviewing and processing commercials for play to air," said Jamie Meyer, Pathfire Product Manager for Groups and Stations.
Pathfire's Digital Media GatewayT (DMG), is an IP multicast distribution platform, which distributes and manages content and metadata to over 1,200 broadcast facilities in the US and Canada. Customers such as ABC NewsOne, CNN Newsource, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, Paramount, King World and Sony Television Pictures utilize Pathfire's DMG platform for delivering their news stories and syndicated shows to broadcast stations.
Telestream FlipFactory TrafficManager automatically ingests and transcodes digital content and transfers it directly to desired destination systems in required formats. FlipFactory TrafficManager notifies station operators as soon as new advertising content arrives on their Pathfire server. Incoming content is localized and transcoded into a low-resolution proxy format for viewing and consolidating into a single traffic-monitoring application. FlipFactory TrafficManager also communicates with leading station automation systems, automatically sending metadata and notification that new content is available for playout.
"Pathfire is widely recognized as the leading provider of digital media distribution and management solutions for broadcasters," said Anna Greco, Telestream Director of Business Development and Product Marketing . "We are pleased to be expanding our relationship with them, and look forward to applying our expertise in delivering robust media and metadata exchange solutions to this application."
