Telestream Expands Flip4Mac Support for Professional Workflows
New import/export components for Final Cut Pro announced to support Grass Valley server and Ikegami camera workflows; existing Sony XDCAM solution expands
Amsterdam , Netherlands - IBC Show - September 9, 2005 - Telestream, the leading provider of media encoding workflow solutions for the broadcast industry, today announced expansion of its professional Flip4Mac™ digital media tools for the Mac. The new Flip4Mac components provide file compatibility and direct file transfer into Final Cut Pro systems from Grass Valley servers and Ikegami cameras. These products target the increasing need for tapeless file transfer in today's IT-centric professional and broadcast workflows. The new Flip4Mac solutions will be available in Q4-2005.
"Telestream has been a key contributor to file-based media workflows, providing the critical link that enables seamless media and metadata exchange between systems," said Dan Castles, president and CEO of Telestream. "The new Flip4Mac solutions build on the proven success of our FlipFactory products, expanding the reach of file-based workflows to the desktop and to the Final Cut Pro user. We are pleased to add Flip4Mac support for industry-leading products from Grass Valley and Ikegami."
The new Flip4Mac components make file-based workflows into Final Cut Pro applications a reality for many Mac users. With the new Flip4Mac components, editors can browse, import, edit and export content to and from devices not natively supported by Final Cut Pro. Transfers can occur faster than real time. Plus, they provide additional functionality, like the ability to view keyframes, and metadata support, enabling a faster, more efficient, all-digital workflow.
"We are pleased that Telestream is expanding Flip4Mac support to include direct file transfer between Grass Valley media servers and Final Cut Pro systems," said Matt Allard, Product Marketing Manager for Digital News Production at Thomson's Grass Valley business. "These components will greatly enhance both standard and high-definition workflows for our Final Cut Pro customers."
For Grass Valley products, new Flip4Mac components will provide file-based import and export of MXF and GXF media between the new K2™ media server, Profile® and M-Series™ servers, and Final Cut Pro systems. For Ikegami Editcam users, a new Flip4Mac import component will provide tapeless, file-based ingest of MXF media into Final Cut Pro. Telestream's existing Flip4Mac MXF component expands to add import of low-resolution proxies from Sony XDCAM digital acquisition tools into Final Cut Pro, which will be followed early next year by export capabilities. These components provide file-compatibility and direct file transfer, eliminating the need to return to baseband video in order to move media files between different manufacturers' systems.
"Ikegami and NL Technology are excited about the integration with Telestream's Flip4Mac product, because it extends the all-digital workflow Ikegami and NLT are known for to the large base of Final Cut Pro NLE users" said John Barkley, Product Marketing Manager for Non Linear Technology. "The all-digital workflow for capture of video and metadata at the camera and DVR is expanded and enhanced with Telestream's Flip4Mac software."
Flip4Mac support for Sony XDCAM import is available now, support for low-res proxies will be available in Q4-2005, and export capabilities will be available in Q1-2006. Flip4Mac support for Grass Valley and Ikegami products will be available in Q4-2005. Flip4Mac products are available for worldwide online purchase and download at www.flip4mac.com.
