Telestream and EVS Announce Successful Integration for Sports and TV Series Production
Joint solution provides seamless compatibility and file transfer between systems; Spain's MediaMovil becomes first customer
Amsterdam , Netherlands - IBC Show - September 9, 2005 - Telestream, the leading provider of automated media encoding workflow solutions for the broadcast industry, and EVS Broadcast Equipment, the leading provider of high-performance production server solutions, today announced successful product integration between EVS XT and Media Servers and Telestream FlipFactory workflow automation applications. The result of the integration is a FlipFactory software module which now provides seamless media and metadata file transfer between EVS servers and third party solutions, such as nonlinear editing systems, broadcast servers and archives. The integrated solution was successfully deployed for a major international sporting event this summer and was chosen by Spain's MediaMovil for television program production.
"FlipFactory delivers a seamless interface between our EVS servers and our Avid Adrenaline. Recording all cameras and the director's cut on XT Series Servers for an easy and intuitive sequence selection speeds up the way we produce TV series," said Joseph Noguer, CEO at MediaMovil. "We are convinced that the future lies in a fully tapeless workflow for TV series and show production."
Telestream developed the FlipFactory technology, which enables transcoding of EVS file formats into editing and other file formats, to meet the requirements of several major international sporting events. As a result of this effort, Telestream now offers the new FlipFactory software module which can encode and decode files from both the EVS XT Server and EVS Media Server.
"FlipFactory integration provides a sophisticated level of file compatibility between EVS servers and a vast range of broadcast systems and formats," said Serge Comes, Product Manager, Media Exchange Solutions for EVS. "It also provides the ease of use, high-performance, quality, and efficiency which our live production customers need and deserve."
Telestream maintains the market leading position worldwide for its FlipFactory transcoding automation applications. For FlipFactory users, this EVS integration enables the exchange of content with the EVS XT and Media Servers. For EVS users, FlipFactory expands automated file exchange between their servers and other digital formats, such as Avid, Panasonic P2, Sony XDCAM, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DVC Pro, and more.
"We are delighted with the successful completion of our integration efforts, and more importantly, with customer acceptance for our joint solution," said David Heppe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Telestream. "This is an exciting step forward for FlipFactory and an equally important step for Telestream, as it expands our penetration into the live sports and television production markets."
The integrated solution improves workflow in terms of continuity between EVS and Avid or other third party systems. Media are recorded into the EVS XT server. Then, FlipFactory automatically transcodes and delivers to an Avid or other NLE for editing. When media are ready to air, FlipFactory can also be used to deliver finished material to the EVS Media Server for play out.
The new FlipFactory EVS module is available immediately through Telestream's worldwide sales distribution network. FlipFactory is being demonstrated in Telestream Stand 7.831 at the International Broadcasters Convention (IBC) being held in Amsterdam September this week.
