Telestream Expands FlipFactory Product Line with
FlipFactory Mobile and FactoryArray
New products address growing industry needs: content repurposing for the mobile community and failsafe high-volume job processing; V5.0 adds support for Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment systems
Nevada City, Calif., April 17, 2006 – Telestream, the leading provider of file-based workflow automation solutions for the broadcast and entertainment industry, today announced two important new products as well as major enhancements to its flagship FlipFactory software product line. FlipFactory® Mobile automates high-volume media encoding and delivery for the rapidly evolving mobile distribution markets. FactoryArray™ delivers continuous, uninterrupted job processing for increasingly demanding and critical customer workflows. Version 5.0 software adds support for Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment Division systems products, and more. The new FlipFactory products and enhancements are slated for June 2006 availability.
“These new products were developed in response to a rapidly changing and dynamic marketplace,” said Anna Greco, Director of Business Development and Product Marketing at Telestream. “FlipFactory workflow automation applications can be found at the heart of many of the world’s most demanding broadcast, cable and production facilities, enabling seamless file exchange in multi-format, multi-vendor environments. With these major new products and enhancements, FlipFactory continues to stay at the forefront, supporting evolving media formats and customer needs.”
With advances in PC, broadband, and mobile technologies, the adoption of TV viewing on mobile devices and personal media players is now a reality. Telestream’s new FlipFactory Mobile automates high-volume media encoding for these rapidly evolving mobile distribution outlets. Support for commonly-used mobile and web video and audio formats includes H.264, iPod, QuickTime 7, Windows Media VC-1, 3GPP, Real, MPEG-4, MP3, AAC, AMR and more. With the addition of FlipFactory Mobile, the FlipFactory family continues to provide the industry’s broadest and deepest file format support for multi-platform media distribution – from HD to mobile and everything in between.
As file-based workflows become increasingly demanding, large-scale content providers and companies cannot afford interruptions in their critical workflow automation environments. This is especially true in mission-critical commercial workflows and time-critical news workflows. So much content is moving through these facilities that any workflow interruptions would cause serious subsequent delays. Telestream’s FactoryArray™ ensures continuous, 24/7 job processing in these critical environments.
FactoryArray extends the power of any FlipFactory, TrafficManager or GraphicsFactory product from a single server to an array of servers working together to process jobs in the most efficient and secure manner possible. Intelligent load-balancing distributes jobs across an array of Factory servers. Failover protection ensures that if any one server should fail, the remaining servers will continue to process jobs without interruption. Database mirroring backs up job workflow information and provides automatic recovery mechanisms for all workflows. Distributed control ensures there is no single point of failure in FactoryArray that will ever bring a system down.
These new products will be available with the FlipFactory version 5.0 software release this June. A key new feature, developed in response to customer demand, is transcoding support for Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment Division systems products, including: Autodesk Stone file system, Discreet Smoke editing/finishing system, as well as Discreet Inferno, Discreet Flame and Discreet Flint visual effects and compositing systems.
“We’re delighted to have Telestream develop on our Wiretap API,” said Bill Roberts, director of product management for Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment Division. “FlipFactory’s new capabilities will allow significant workflow advantages to broadcasters and post-production facilities by allowing Autodesk’s systems to integrate directly with broadcast servers and automation systems.”
Editing system file format support expands in version 5.0 to include Final Cut Pro IMX, DV50 and HDV, Apple Xsan on FibreChannel and Avid MXF decode. Camera support grows to include decoding of Grass Valley Infinity DV25 and JPEG2000, XDCAM HD and DVCProHD. Media server support expands to include Omneon MXF, Leitch MXF and HD, EVS HD, full support for Grass Valley K2, and SeaChange BML.
FlipFactory Mobile, FactoryArray and V5.0 enhancements will be featured in Telestream’s Booth SL-2781 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, April 24-27, 2006.
