Telestream Announces Availability of Flip4Mac V2.0 Software for Sony’s XDCAM System
Update adds High-definition and low-resolution proxy support to Import Component for Sony’s XDCAM system; enables broadcasters to transfer files directly into Final Cut Pro systems for editing
Las Vegas (National Assn of Broadcasters Convention), April 24, 2006 – Telestream, the provider of award-winning Flip4Mac™ digital media tools for Macintosh systems, today announced availability of Version 2.0 software for its Flip4Mac XDCAM Component. The import component allows editors to ingest MXF content directly from Sony’s XDCAM™ Professional Disc™ production system into Apple’s Final Cut Pro 5 application for editing. Version 2.0 software adds support for high-definition media and low-resolution proxies. Flip4Mac XDCAM Component now provides ingest support across the entire XDCAM family.
“The XDCAM system was designed with the flexibility necessary to interact with an array of industry solutions,” said Bob Ott, vice president of optical and network systems for Sony Electronics. “The ability to access file-based XDCAM content either as low-res proxy or at full bandwidth, in SD or HD formats, and move media to the Macintosh™ platform greatly enhances the flexibility and the efficiency of the system. We are delighted to see the availability of these new Flip4Mac features for the Apple user community.”
The Flip4Mac XDCAM Component expands to enable greater functionality for video professionals using Sony’s XDCAM system. V2.0 software enables broadcasters to preview low-resolution proxies on a Sony device before transferring clips into their Final Cut Pro 5 editing systems. Final Cut Pro users can preview clips, make selections, and then import only the high-resolution files they need for editing. V2.0 also provides universal binary support for Intel-powered Macs, in addition to existing support for Mac Power PCs. Flip4Mac XDCAM Component V2 will be available the first week in May.
“These enhancements represent an important step forward in rounding out our XDCAM-compatible solutions for Final Cut Pro users,” said Dan Castles, Telestream’s CEO. “We are pleased to expand Flip4Mac capabilities to enable greater workflow efficiency for Sony XDCAM users as well as our Apple Final Cut Pro customers.”
Flip4Mac XDCAM Component Version 2.0 and all other Flip4Mac products are being demonstrated in Telestream Booth SL-2781 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention this week in Las Vegas. To learn more, download, or purchase Flip4Mac components, visit www.flip4mac.com.
