Basic Configuration – Live Streaming Base Requirements

I want to:

Use one internal/external SD camera source or built-in webcam
Send out one SD Stream and record one local copy of that stream to disc
Use lower thirds, transitions and also apply a watermark
Include a Powerpoint presentation via Desktop Presenter or Skype

Stream Resolutions:

Stream 1:
640x480 @ 25fps (Flash, WM, or QT)
Local copy:
640x480 @ 25fps (Flash, WM, or QT)

Suggested Setup

1 x SD Camera OR
1 x Built-in camera (iSight/Facetime or built-in webcam)
1 x Desktop Presenter source
1 x USB audio source

SD/HD Webcams

  • Logitech C910*
  • Microsoft LifeCam Cinema (Windows)
  • Canon Vixia HV30/40-HDV camera also has DV(SD) mode

Built in cameras

Wirecast should work well with all computer built-in cameras. If you are uncertain, download a trial of Wirecast and test with your computer camera.

Internet connection

High-Speed DSL (Estimated 768 kbps upstream bit rate)

Computer

We suggest a computer with the following minimum requirements:

CPU:
Graphics:
Memory:
Hard Drive:
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and up
Nvidia 256MB GeForce 9400
4GB RAM
Enough storage for local archive

An example that fits this description would be a Mac mini. Note, the Mac mini will not include a built-in webcam. If you prefer to use a built-in webcam, take a look at the lower end iMacs or a Windows machine with similar attributes.
*Currently works only in SD mode.
