Yes. Episode 6 is a single application that combines the capabilities of both Episode Encoder and Episode Engine. Episode 6 can be licensed at different levels to support the specific encoding format feature and performance needs.

Is Episode Engine still a supported product?

Yes, Episode Engine will continue to be maintained and fully supported. Product updates (bugfixes) will continue to be released and available for Episode Engine customers with valid maintenance and support agreement.

Can I upgrade Episode Encoder to Episode 6? How do I do that and how much does it cost?

Yes. There will be an upgrade option from Episode Encoder V5 to Episode V6. The upgrade fee from Episode Encoder V5 to Episode V6 is $145 and from Episode Encoder Pro V5 to Episode Pro V6 is $295.

Can I trade-in Episode Engine V5 to Episode Engine V6? How much does it cost?

How can I use Episode 5 custom settings in Episode 6?

Episode 5 custom settings are stored at the following location: User> Library> Application support> Episode> Settings folder.

Copy the settings you want to use and paste to the following location: User> Library> Application support> Episode> User Tasks> Encoders folder

If I would like to - can I still buy Episode Engine?

Yes you can. This might be of particularly interest for customers who:

  • Are adding more nodes to an existing Episode Engine cluster
  • Have an Episode Engine SDK integration
  • Need a fail-over solution, with automatic reconnect and job fail retry for a very large scale cluster setup.

How does the trade-in from Episode Engine V5 to Episode Engine V6 work?

After purchasing the trade in option for Episode V6, the process for upgrading from Episode Engine V5 to Episode Engine V6 is as follows: Uninstall Engine. Download Episode Engine V6 from the web and install the new software. You will receive a new license key upon the purchase of Episode Engine V6 trade-in.

How does the upgrade from Episode Encoder 5 to Episode 6 work?

There will be an upgrade charge from Episode Encoder V5 to Episode V6. There will be various upgrade paths available from Episode Encoder V5 and Episode Encoder Pro V5 to Episode V6, Episode Pro V6 as well as to Episode Engine V6. There will be an automatic upgrade process from Episode Encoder V5 to Episode V6 that will be activated from the users computer as the new version 6 is available. This will just require new software download and a new license key.

Do I need to purchase the Pro Audio option when I upgrade from version 5 to version 6?

As a current Episode Encoder Pro or Episode Engine Pro 5 customer the Pro Audio option will be included at no extra charge in your upgrade to version 6.
