Clipmail
Pro Compatible External SCSI Hard
Drives:
When
using any of the internal drives on
your system with an external drive box,
ensure the drive is properly terminated
and that you have all necessary interconnect
cables to adapt the 68pin connector
on the drive to the drive enclosure
and on to the 68-pin D-type connector
on the ClipMail chassis rear panel.
When attached, the external drive resides
on the same SCSI bus used by the internal
hard drive so external drives must each
have a unique SCSI ID. You can use any
number from 1 through 7. ID 15 is reserved
as the host ID and 0 is reserved for
the internal drive.
ClipMail
does not require software installation
of a SCSI driver on the drive, it
will auto-detect a drive on the bus
and control it. As long as the drive
was factory formatted (most currently
manufactured drives are formatted)
you do not need to format and set
interleave, block size, etc.
Although we don't specifically guarantee
or recommend any vendors to buy prepackaged
hard drives from, here is one company
that offers the drives mentioned above
as complete pre-assembled units:
